DFM Summer Film Series

UPDATE: Film selection for the August 16th, 2nd hour, include: The Story of Cosmetics examines the pervasive use of toxic chemicals in our everyday personal care products, from lipstick to baby shampoo. Let's Ban the Bead, a 2-minute short takes on plastic microbeads—the nasty little bits of plastic that companies have been putting in everything from body washes and hand soaps to toothpaste and make up. Story of Broke - The United States isn’t broke; we’re the richest country on the planet and a country in which the richest among us are doing exceptionally well. But the truth is, our economy is broken, producing more pollution, greenhouse gasses and garbage than any other country. Featuring selections from the "Story of Stuff," a series of short fast-paced, fact-filled films about the underside of our production and consumption patterns. Two mid-day events are scheduled for 11:00am Friendly Discussion hour: June 21st - The "Story of Bottled Water" and "The Story of Electronics" and August 16th - film titles shown above. One evening potluck & film event scheduled for Wed, July 15, with a 6:00pm shared vegan dinner, followed by 7:00pm showing of "Cowspiracy: the Sustainability Secret" about the beef and dairy cattle industry.
