A note about the way unprogrammed Friends worship: 

The object of our style of worship is not silence, but the quiet waiting for communication with God within ourselves.  As we settle into Meeting for Worship, the quiet becomes vital and alive.  Vocal messages come out of the quiet to enrich the group worship.  The most valuable messages are those that are heartfelt and sincere;  they need not be lengthy or polished.  It usually helps to leave a time between messages to allow people time to find their own spiritual meaning in what has just been shared.
